Well it’s snuck up on us all again but this month’s Handshakes is going to be in full effect.
The Black Amex boys have one of their favorite Denver DJ’s and all around badass friends joining them this month in the booth, DJ Babyshoe. You might have seen Babyshoe’s name on, well, just about everything cool in Denver because he has his hands in everyone’s pie. Running the Dance Pile dance nights at Deer Pile, Fresh Produce at the Meadowlark and even taking the helm from Tonyo at Guilty Pleasures, DJ Babyshoe has Denver in a headlock and is giving it the longest, loving noogie ever.
With a soft spot for the disco and funky grooves that run so deep in Black Amex, he’s a perfect fit for Handshakes.
The party goes off on Saturday night at Milk bar with a $5 cover that gets you into all three rooms. Which means in addition to Handshakes, you get goth night and the new wave retro room as well! Three parties for the price of one. Even better still, if you show up early (before 10pm) you can skip the cover altogether. Either way, come down and get freaky.
Check out the mix below for a taste of things to come!
Dan Grund is a modern-day Renaissance Man. He knows everything about everything; espresso, vinyl, motorbikes, poutine, Justin Bieber, vintage Ralph Lauren linen ties, roasted meats, swim gear and single origin vodka. Oh yeah, and he speaks Czech. Most importantly, he is a really, really nice guy. If you see him on the street, stop him so he can drop some knowledge on you.
Fancy employee Nathan Hall will be performing several songs at the Buntport Theater this Friday along with two other local artists! The performance will be multi-media featuring background videos, as well choreographed stage movements and backup singers from Bunport Theater. The event starts at 8 pm at Buntport Theater, 717 Lipan. More infomation can be found at https://www.facebook.com/events/549393268445741/?fref=ts

In case you missed the memo, Mike Simonetti, founder of Troubleman Unlimited Records, Italians Do it Better, and DJ extraordinaire, will be dropping a set at Night Drive this coming Saturday at Beauty Bar. Celebrating their 1 year anniversary as one of Denver’s best dance nights ever, Night Drive is going to play host to one of the hottest DJs in the underground, Mike Simonetti, who is the head honcho at the label Italians Do It Better. Over the past few years Simonetti has been releasing the best italo-inspired dance music from the likes of
Glass Candy, Chromatics, Bottin, Nite Jewel and Desire.
Starting as an offshoot of Troubleman Unlimited, Italians Do It Better has been the home for their dance bands as well as reissues and other gems Simonetti and partner Johnny Jewel from Glass Candy have found along the way. In addition to the label, Simonetti has made a name for himself as a DJ with a deep record collection, great skill behind the tables and an intimate feel for the crowd on the dance floor. Simonetti has toured the world and played recent parties with the likes of 2manydjs/Soulwax, Tim Sweeney, Matthew Dear and Alan Braxe. But don’t take our word for it, hear it straight from the RCA jack of the man himself with this new mix he did last month for the music blog Feel My Bicep: HERE.
Meet us on the dance floor. This is going to be madness!

Ark Industries has a long standing tradition of small business and entrepreneurship going back to the founder Noah Benjamin’s great grandfather, Chas Benjamin. Chas got his start driving a wagon around the prairie’s of Calgary selling clothing and dry goods to the settlers and natives across Alberta. This later led to Chas opening a men’s wear store in Calgary in the 1920s. It is this history and passion for clothing that is apparent in Ark Industries products and philosophies.

Ark Industries was founded in 1995 after Noah spent year’s buying and selling vintage clothing to earn money while in school. Their first few products were all made from second hand fabrics and re-worked vintage clothing. Built on a philosophy of re-working vintage and quality materials when they can has resulted in an incredible line of re-worked vintage Japanese dresses and Ipad sleeves made from recycled leather. Look for their beautifully worn re-worked leather jackets coming this Fall.

Stop in and check them out in person!

We just got in our Spring order from Topo Designs! It was hand delivered by one of their friendly employees because not only is this line local, it’s hyper local. Their offices are just blocks from Fancy Tiger and we couldn’t be happier to have such creative neighbors. We were thrilled to get the ever popular Klettersack back in stock and excited to welcome two of their newest styles to the store, the Mountain Briefcase and the Rover Pack.

The Mountain Briefcase has a lot to offer. Not only is this a great briefcase for daily use but this bag can transform into a backpack or messenger bag with it’s easy to use hardware. Just unclip the backpack straps and tuck them in the back pocket to turn your bag into a briefcase. Want to turn your briefcase into a messenger bag? Easy, just clip the shoulder strap on and you’re ready to go.

The Rover Pack is the perfect everyday rucksack style you are always looking for in a bag. There are two smaller exterior pockets to give you quick access to whatever you choose to store inside, an inner laptop sleeve and two side pockets for carrying water bottles or extra gear.

And if you aren’t satisfied with all the options I’ve just presented you, perhaps you are looking for something a little more limited edition. If so make sure to stop by Fancy Tiger Clothing Friday May 3rd from 7pm-10pm for the unveiling of the new, limited edition Breckenridge Brewery & Topo Designs Urban Outdoor Pack.
This bag has it all, a custom designed bottle opener from Machine Era, a detachable and collapsable 6 pack beer cooler and of course a bottle holder. These bags will be sold exclusively through Breckenridge Brewery’s website and we will be giving one away to one lucky customer at the unveiling party Friday May 3rd. See you then!
