Civilized Living: See Eyewear Interview
Civilized Living is a new monthly, curated series that focuses on the cutting edge, creative talent in the Denver area and beyond. For the August installment we’ve invited two businesses that have something unique to offer Denver, Covered Wallpaper & See Eyewear. This week we’ll be focusing on See Eyewear.
See Eyewear is an optical boutique located in the Cherry Creek shopping district setting themselves apart from others with their selection of limited run frames and knowledgeable staff. See Eyewear has 27 locations throughout the U.S. Their store located at 2800 E. 2nd Ave offers customers a unique selection of prescription eyewear as well as sunglasses. Heidi Tanner, Store Manager, recently took the time to answer a few questions for us in preparation for their upcoming first Friday event at Fancy Tiger Clothing.

FT: How did SEE eyewear get its start?
SE: Founded by two brothers from Michigan 17 years ago, who wanted to make eyewear more affordable and unique!
Aluminum frames made in Denmark
FT: What sets your business apart from other optical boutiques?
SE: Our customer service. We get so excited to pick out a new look and make everyone feel amazing in their glasses. Our frames are a packaged price, so the price includes a single vision polycarbonate lens with scratch coating and UV. Our frames range from $169 and our highest is $369. We do not mass produce so we make a limited run of styles. Each month we get new product in, so it’s always changing. You will not see everyone around town wearing the same frames. You can get a pair of polarized prescription sunglasses for $238! We take most insurances. Our general eye exam is $59.

Handmade Frames from Japan
FT: What services do you offer?
SE: We are a full service eyeglass boutique. We do eye exams Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays. We do prescription eyewear and sunglasses. All our Sunglasses are $99 out the door.

Round Translucent Frames from Italy
FT: What trends in eyewear are you seeing this year?
SE: Bright and colorful and of course BIG.
FT: What is your number one piece of advice for someone interested in getting a new pair of glasses?
SE: Have fun with it. Make sure you feel good in your eyeglasses. They’re the first thing people see, so you should love them! They’re a good investment.
Join us Friday August 3rd from 7pm-10pm for a chance to meet with the people behind these local businesses and see what they have to offer. Heidi will be on hand to answer questions about their services and will have a variety of sample frames to test out. A local deejay will be on hand to set the soundtrack for the evening and customers can enjoy beverages from Breckenridge Brewery. For more information on See Eyewear visit: seeeyewear.com
